Thought for the week by Time Out To Dream:
'FAITH FUELLED CONFIDENCE'
What fuels your everyday? Is it the big bowl of breakfast you have in the morning? Is it the sun shining on your face? Is it the adventure and excitement of a new day? What is it that helps you get out of bed on a morning and do what you do?
Motivation is on the decline. Since the pandemic, there has been a massive drop in motivation, according to recent surveys. People are struggling to get their normal day-to-day activities done, struggling to get up for work in the mornings, and struggling to feel happy and contented. Articles share how to 're-motivate' yourself you need to set achievable goals and targets for yourself at home and at work, and even introduce a reward system to congratulate yourself on your achievements. It would seem that everyone is on the same pathway of needing a bit more motivation but could it be that we actually need to fuel ourselves on something more long-lasting?
The work we do at Dream is extremely hard, but we press on and persevere because of our 'faith fuelled confidence'. Changing the world positively is not an easy feat, and working with communities, young people and heritage is not simple, but we are confident that all things will work out for good, and that our labours are not in vain. Whereas your morning cereal or treat will fuel you just for a short while, we are fuelled by our faith, and by the frustration we have with what's wrong with this world, and we channel it to motivate our activities and our attitudes.
What motivates you?

Thought for the week by Time Out To Dream:
'WHO BUILT YOUR HOUSE?’
Psalm 127:1 says this ‘Unless the LORD builds the house, those who build it labor in vain. Unless the LORD watches over the city, the watchman stays awake in vain.’
All of us live in homes both old and new. If you’re anything like our team, you’ll love to find out the history of where you live, the names of the previous owners and builders of your home, and the changes your house has had over time. If you live in a really old home you’ll see how the appearance of your home has changed, affected by different tastes, fashions, cultures, status, needs and more. Whereas many of the older houses were made to last, the more modern buildings of today are increasingly more fragile and unsubstantial, with an average lifespan of 25years. Thus the labour put in by the builders of the older homes was not in vain, and these buildings have and will far exceed their builder’s lifespan. But what of the modern buildings; will they stand the test of time? Will they exceed their builder’s lifespan? The reality is probably not, and thus their labour has been in vain.
So our questions to you are:
What have you built your life on?
Are you building your life on things that last?
What positive legacy are you leaving behind?

Thought for the week by Time Out To Dream:
'LIVING FREE'
Whether it's time, money, human resource, health, knowledge, ability etc, there are always limitations to what we can do & achieve. Living a life free from all these problems is now probably harder than ever, however it is possible. Being free from these problems doesn't mean that the problems have to not exist; what it does mean though is how we face these problems and our attitudes and mentalities towards them can be different. When we are attempting to live this life alone, we are unable to do so, because everything relies on our own strength, capabilities, skills & knwoledge, but when we choose to live a life with God, then our problems can be put into perspective. We can live a life free from the worries of our problems, trusting God's provisions, and realising our own resources, however big or small they may be.
Philippians 4, 10-14.
Content Whatever the Circumstances
10-14 I’m glad in God, far happier than you would ever guess—happy that you’re again showing such strong concern for me. Not that you ever quit praying and thinking about me. You just had no chance to show it. Actually, I don’t have a sense of needing anything personally. I’ve learned by now to be quite content whatever my circumstances. I’m just as happy with little as with much, with much as with little. I’ve found the recipe for being happy whether full or hungry, hands full or hands empty. Whatever I have, wherever I am, I can make it through anything in the One who makes me who I am. I don’t mean that your help didn’t mean a lot to me—it did. It was a beautiful thing that you came alongside me in my troubles.

SPRING NEWSLETTER OUT NOW!
NEWS ANNOUNCEMEENT: Our Director, Rebekah Watkins, has reached the MISS ENGLAND FINAL!
The last year has seen Rebekah wear hard hat & hi-vis by day, and dress by night, as she competes in the Miss England Contest. She has been an intrinsic part of the contest so far, helping to shape its future, swapping its bikini round to workwear, and encouraging other young women to be an indomitable force for good! She is not the typical 'Miss England' many would expect as she hopes to not just model clothes, but to model her faith, positive lifestyles, and women in careers.
Throughout the competition she has relentlessly championed good ethics & the environment, shared her faith & the important work of Dream, trailblazed women at work & making a positive difference, and inspired the next generation to reach their God-given potential. We are so thankful to her for her dedication to be a positive role model to the next generation and for her leadership!

'BE THE CHANGE'
'Be The Change' is a phrase often used by those trying to trailblaze and champion positive and ethical ventures. The choices we make have an affect on our lives, our health, and our circumstances, but also have an affect on our world, our environment, on our network. 'Be in the world, but not of the world' is another phrase coyned by Christians based on passages from the book of John, in which Jesus challenges us to be different to the world, that is counter-cultural. To 'Be the Change' is to be counter-cultural, loving others as ourselves, putting others first, and being motivated by faith & love.
How can you be the change?

Thought for the week:
'What is a good leader'
This year is nicknamed the 'Election Year' because there are 50 elections taking place across the world-a world-record! For the world, and for our nation, this means that there are a lot of people who will be coming to power to shape our lives and futures. Though we have our own opinions and identities, it would be difficult to not recognise the impact that our leaders make. Like we found out nationally during the pandemic, our leadership restricted our activities, the people we could meet with, and how we went about our lives. In more recent years, other countries such as the Ukraine, Russia, Israel and Gaza, their leadership dictates military strategies and decisions, ultimately affecting the entire countries through war. In the past, we are all also aware of how bad leaders such as Hitler can have a national and global negative impact on the lives of thousands of people! For our young people, their leaders tend to now be those on social media or given celebrity-status, with emphasis given to being 'known and liked' over being 'good and honourable'.
Good leaders matter so much, but they are becoming a bit rare & are few and far between.
Despite the usual expectation of all 'leaders' being in politics, royalty or of celebrity status, this is not true. We are ALL LEADERS and that means we all have a sphere of influence, however big or small. That means our actions & attitudes matter, because they affect others.
How can you be a good leader, positively influencing those around you?
With love,
DREAM

Thought for the week:
'Doing things in your own strength'
If you hadn't gathered from reading about it fifty million times above, Rebekah is doing a Fundraising Challenge. It is not quite the typical fundraiser, being an especially long and difficult if not arduous endurance challenge. I'm sure by now she is wondering why she did not come up with selling cakes then battling wind, rain, sleet and difficult locks to raise money. The challenge requires her to do everything in her own strength. If she doesn't paddle, then she won't get to the destination, and may even get blown backwards! However, if you know Rebekah, you'll realise that this challenge is something she is not doing in her own strength, for Rebekah is motivated by faith. In all that she does, and in her whole life, she is one motivated by faith. Whilst others end up motivated by money, position, status, and 'followers', she is motivated by faith, and that gives her both strength and hope. Perhaps we too this Easter time can become strengthened, energised and motivated by faith.
With love

Hello!
All of our readers, listeners, and supporters are SO important to us and we value each and every one of you, but often miss finding the time to say 'thank you'. So here it is-thank you!
Last week saw the successful induction of the new Priest In Charge at Drax Church in North Yorkshire, followed by refreshments at Read School; the evening was well attended, and supported, and the church looked beautiful from the cleaning day the Saturday prior. The week also saw more green-fingered people get involved at Weardale Methodist Church in Co. Durham, helping create the community garden there. In Tadcaster, to celebrate International Women's Day, our Director Rebekah Watkins shared about Dream Heritage, her Miss England Story, and her mission to model not just clothes but a lifestyle built on love & service, women at work, and young people being an indomitable force for good! The three youth clubs went really well, with the young people engaging in all activities, and an influx of young people to our Selby club. Conservation and maintenance work continued across all our Yorkshire projects too, filling the last bits of time we had available for the week.
This week's bulletin will bring you up to speed with the latest happenings, and we hope you enjoy having a read!

Thought for the week: 'Rest' by Time Out To Dream As you can see from the bulletin, we'll be having a bit of a break during the Easter Holidays, and this leads us into this week's 'thought for the week' which is on the theme of 'Rest'. Believe it or not, we'll be unpacking this topic of 'rest' and what it means and how we can find it, in our youth clubs, probably one of the last places you'd think we'd find rest, however the rest we will be thinking about is a much more wholesome form of 'rest', a kind-of-state of mind, a choice, a trust, and a commitment. Our modern lifestyles do not lend themselves to much rest, with sleep often little, and the pressure to be always 'available' via mobile phone and social media overwhelming. The repercussions of this are probably most greatly felt by the younger generations, who are suffering both physically and mentally from this lack of rest, often trapped in a constant state of unrest. We at Dream aim to change this, by inspiring the next generation to 'be the change' in this world, and to not conform to the world around them. We are challenging the young people this week to not put their trust, hope, future, and worth in the 'world' and in what social media says about them, but in God and their God-given potential. Jesus says 'Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest... For my yoke is easy and my burden is light' (Matthew 11). This type of rest is what we all need, because it is that wholesome form of rest we need to grow and mature. It is a commitment and a reassurance, that however full-up our diaries or calendars get, and however busy we might feel, we can find rest-peace, contentment, assurance, joy, and confidence-in God.
With love

16th March 2024
Good morning,This week's weekly bulletin is one of those 'better late than never ones', so I hope you enjoy it.
Since we've last been in touch we have already run 5 youth clubs in Yorkshire, done some finishing touches to the new accessible toilet at the Hawdon in Selby, had a walk-around meeting at Boulevard Baptists in Hull and at Howden Minster to detail needed conservation/maintenance work, held a Youth Music Evening for young people to have access to instruments and be creative together, and been involved in the Cleaning Day at Drax Church which saw the church look beautiful for yesterday evening's induction of Mark Poskitt as Priest in Charge. Alongside all of that, we had the car break down twice, rain stop 'play', and illness, so again, it's been one of those really impossible times, where you look back and think, 'How the heck did we still manage to do all that?'. The best bit so far of this week has been that we had so many more young people at our Tuesday youth club in Selby, and excited that so many teenagers want to socialise together and be involved. At the end of the session in our discussion time, one of the young people said 'There's no hope for the world', and that led me into conversation with them about how 'in that very room I saw hope for the world'. We chatted more about how they have the choice to be the good this world needs, to be the ambassadors of local positive change; to be the hope in this world!
Anyway, this is what's happening in the coming weeks: Just to highlight, volunteering at the ruins of Beaurepaire Manor House in Bearpark, Co. Durham is starting back after the winter break on Saturday 16th March 2024, 10-2pm; no gardening experience necessary, just a willingness to help! All ages welcome, but under 16yr olds must be accompanied by an adult. AND We are also on the look out for volunteers to get stuck into some painting, decorating and DIY to finish off the Hawdon in Selby. The building is being slowly transformed into a more functional and comfortable community venue & youth hub. It's come so far already, but we need eager people to come and get involved! If interested then send us a quick email, and let us know your availability!

Thought for the week: 'ACT NOW'
I'm sure you haven't been able to miss the posters and posts across social media, billboards and stations, instructing us to ACT NOW. However, when the climate crisis is worsening and we are experiencing the repercussions to our over use of fossil fuels and single use plastic, it does seem that very little people are taking any notice, and that there is little hope for not just our nation but our world. For us the people, it would seem that unless there's a large-scale societal, cultural, and governmental change then we are hopeless.
'ACT'
To act is to take action, and is not a commission we are to defer to somebody else, to a later date, or to a government, but is a commission for each and everyone of us. We at Dream believe that we are called to action; to be a positive change to this world; to be a light in the darkness. To act now doesn't require expertise or experience, all it requires is a willingness to help & make a difference. To act does not require you to overturn the government or raise a great riot; what it does require you to do is to look at your hands and at your own skills, talents, and resources, and to decide to use what you've got to change the world, one step at a time. We've probably all read the account of the young boy in the Bible, who only had his packed lunch of five loaves of bread and two fishes, and how he decided to 'act now', giving all his food (his resources) to Jesus, and helping to feed 5000 people! What little the boy had, he used for good.
What little (or big) do you have that can be used for good?
With love
Good evening,
Phew! It's been a bit of a busy week to say the least, with three talks, three youth clubs, Youth Alpha, and conservation work at St Matthew's Parish Hall in Hull & Drax Parish Church. So, yes it's been very tiring.
Before we get any further, we'd love to say a particular thank you to those at Church Fenton Methodist Church, Appleton Roebuck Methodist Church and Connect Community Church, for their welcome, kindness and reception. It was absolutely lovely to share the work we do at Dream Heritage to transform lives, heritage and communities, and it was also an opportunity for Rebekah- our Director- to share her faith & recent Miss England journey.
This week is a lot tamer than other weeks, but with the warmer weather, springtime & the daffodils coming soon, you'll be seeing lots more ways to get involved in the next couple of weeks!Find out what we have coming up below:

Thought for the week: 'love conquers all'This week we are exploring in our youth clubs, and thinking amongst our team, about how important it is to love. We read in the Bible that the greatest commandment is love, and this is because love conquers all. Today love is seen as much more of a romantic, temporary and fleeting thing, but the true meaning of love has it as a much more constant, committed and sacrificial venture.
We at Dream sign our emails off 'with love' because we really mean it. The work that we do is often not personally rewarding for our team. The work we do is not large-scale or profitable. The work we do does not make us comfortable and is not always very enjoyable. BUT, the work we do is transformational, and it is sacrificial, and it is life-changing.
Last week when we were talking with the young people we shared the story of the boy on the beach with the starfish. The story goes that there was a storm that washed hundreds if not thousands of starfish onto a beach. A young boy was seen picking up the starfish one by one, and throwing them back into the ocean. A stranger goes up to the boy and asks him, 'Why are you throwing them back? Have you not seen how many of them there are? You couldn't possibly make a difference by what you're doing, you're wasting your time!'. The young boy then looked at the stranger, and pointed out to the ocean and said 'Well, it made a difference to that one'.The work we do has not solved the whole of the world's troubles, but it has made a difference, and it will continue to do so, 'with love'.
With love

2nd March-Drax
8th March-International Women's Day
Hello everyone.
Welcome to our second weekly bulletin! Each week our weekly bulletins will let you know about what's happening in the week ahead, and a little thought for the week.
We hope you have had a brilliant last week, and thank you so much in particular to all those who attended and delivered the Weardale Methodist Church's 'Let There Be Light' Event; the stained glass windows, buffet, quiz and gardening efforts have been incredible! Our Director Rebekah, the current Miss England's Ethical Queen, delivered another empowering talk at Methodist Women in Britain, sharing the importance of loving yourself and using the resources and skills you have to change the world! Behind the scenes, The Dream Team have been busy this last week working on Howden Minster in Howden, St James Church in Selby, Boulevard Baptists in Hull, and the former Aysgarth Methodist Church in the Yorkshire Dales... Now Howden Minster's high level rainwater goods are all functioning; St James Church has more pigeon spikes; Boulevard Baptists have empty rainwater goods and specifications for more required works; and Aysgarth Methodist Church has had a good garden, clean and works completed prior to the electrics being renewed. The team also had the opportunity to embrace culture, visiting Beverley Minster's Luxmaralis Illuminations, as well as visits to Gainford and Elloughton to talk about potential future works/projects!-All exciting stuff!
Anyway, we'll let you find out about what's on below:

Thought for the week:
This week we are encouraging positive action by challenging you to realise your true beauty! 'Be happy in your OWN skin, and realise your true beauty, that is the skills, attributes, talents, resources & ideas that you have that could be used for good!'
The Oxford Dictionary has a rather shallow definition of beauty, which is that it is the 'combination of qualities, such as shape, colour, or form, that pleases the aesthetic senses, especially the sight.' Well, you will be happy to know that this definition is not accurate, and that true beauty is not reliant on your outward appearance, but is reliant on your heart. 'Your beauty should not come from outward adornments... instead it should be that of your inner self, the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit' (1 Peter, 3). Too often we can become obsessed with the attributes and looks that we haven't got that we become blind to the resources and opportunities that we do have. We at Dream believe that positive action comes when people realise their inner beauty, that is their true beauty, the attributes, skills, talents, resources and opportunities they have that can positively change the world! Do you realise your own beauty? What resources, attributes and resources do you have that can improve your community, environment and world?
With love
